The Indoor Championships are usually barred from roaring crowds, but the recently concluded USATF Indoor Championships demanded cheers inarguably. As the qualifier of the World Athletics Indoor Championships, the 2-day-long event served the utmost thrill to the virtual spectators. Some of the athletes who headlined are Noah Lyles and Grant Holloway in virtue of their historical feats in the 60m running and 60m hurdles, respectively.

The former clocked past his biggest rival, Christian Coleman, to touch the line in 6.43s. And Holloway didn’t need anyone to outclass. He raced in an uncontentious field to clock in at 7.27s, a new World Record. But more record holders on the American list need equal attention.

A familiar name by now, Daniel Haugh, the stellar hammer thrower, just did the impossible in the weight-throwing event, exceeding the 26m mark. With this, he smashed the long-standing American record of Lance Deal, which stood untouched since 1995. His final score was 26.35m/86-5 fourth-round heave. Moving on, we have the 2x Olympic medalist Ryan Crouser with an electrifying throw(shot put), which effortlessly touched the 22.80m mark, landing him with a gold. Though he wants to look beyond Indoors, his recent feat earned him a place at the Championships in Glasgow.

Not Mondo Duplantis, but Chris Nilsen took the pole vault at the USATF Indoors. A new meet record, and a new facility record for Albuquerque as well, which currently has Nilsen in the 2024 world lead. Looking further, the Indy native Cole Hocker successfully outpaced young gun Hobbs Kessler to nab the 1500m win. Just 1.25s ahead of the latter, Hocker etched his name in the meet record breakers list, while also challenging his best time. Noah Lyles, who’s currently on a spree, vigorously issued a statement that’s sure to leave fans stirred.
