The fans witnessed US sprinters standing atop the podium with several accolades dangling around their necks. 23-year-old star Sha’Carri Richardson grabbed her first World Championship Title by storming through the 100m tracks in 10.65 seconds. While Noah Lyles became the first man to win gold in both 100m (9.83) and 200m (19.52) since Usain Bolt. Following this event, the athletes have geared up for a new challenge.

Sha’Carri Richardson is ready to face her Jamaican rivals at the highly anticipated Diamond League finals which are to be held from 16-17th September. Interestingly, apart from watching it on channels of NBC, this year US track enthusiasts can also witness the LSU sensation striking her magic on her homeland soil. As for the first time after 13 years the historic diamond league meet will be flying to America.

Diamond League 2023 reaches its final destination

On September 13, NBC Olympics and Paralympics posted an interesting fact about the upcoming Diamond League finals. According to the tweet, “For the first time ever, the Diamond League Final will be held on U.S. soil.” The 2023 Diamond League, which is the 14th season of this outdoor athletics event, began on May 5 in Doha at the Suheim bin Hamad Stadium and will hold its finals, the Nike Prefontaine Classics, in Hayward Field Stadium, Oregon, this year.

This year many top-notch athletes have secured their positions in the finals. In the absence of Noah Lyles the men’s 200-meter US team race will witness 19-year-old sprinter Erriyon Knighton join the forces of Kenny Bednarek and Kyree King to compete against World Champion Letsile Tebogo. On the other hand, in the women’s 200-meter, sprint queen Shericka Jackson will be looking forward to breaking Flo-Jo’s record in her last battle. The 29-year-old Jamaican will be competing against American athletes Kayla White and Twanisha Terry to clinch the victory.

Interestingly, apart from the 200-meter race this year the 100m race with its solid lineup has grabbed the world’s attention. American sprinters Noah Lyles and Sha’Carri Richardson will also be spotted on the 100m tracks to fight their last battle of the season.

This weekend’s 100-meter finals will be an absolute treat for the athletics enthusiast. As in the 100m women’s race, two newly crowned World Champions, Shericka Jackson and Sha’Carri Richardson, will be geared up to strike their magic in Hayward Field Stadium. The world’s fastest woman alive, Elaine Thompson-Herah, will also be looking forward to sealing her comeback with one last win by participating in the highly anticipated race.

In the 100m men’s race, Noah Lyles, who has clinched only one 100m victory in Diamond League finals (2019) till now, will be joining Christian Coleman and Marving Bracy-Williams to face his on-track rival Letsile Tebogo. Interestingly, this will be the first time Lyles is not participating in the 200m finale of the Diamond League.
