The 2023 season has been one of a kind for Shericka Jackson. Although in this season the 29-year-old Jamaican sprinter could not break Florence Griffith Joyner’s 1988 200-meter record, she stood atop the podium frequently this year.

However, amid the last two battles of the season, Jackson maintained her streak and clinched two trophies under her name. Alongside her recent win on the 200-meter tracks of Oregon, the athlete created a new world record at the event.

On the second day of the Diamond League finals, Shericka Jackson claimed her second 200-meter Diamond League trophy. Amid the win, Jackson ended her 200-meter season undefeated. According to a tweet posted by Travis Miller, “Shericka Jackson is 8-0 in the 200m finals this season!”

Jackson, who was aiming to break Flo Jo’s record after a staunch performance at the Brussels Diamond League, won her last 200-meter event of the season in 21.57 seconds. She was followed by Marie-Josee TA LOU ( 22.10) and Anthonique Strachan (22.16) for the second and third positions respectively on the podium. This win comes 24 hours after the athlete ran past Sha’Carri Richardson on the 100-meter track.

Double win for Jamaican track and field star

On the first day of the Diamond League final, the undefeated Shericka Jackson won the 100-meter race. The athlete who has gained the reputation of a 200-meter sprint queen won the event in 10.70 seconds, followed by Marie-Josee TA LOU (10.75), who clinched the second position. Jackson even surpassed the world’s fastest woman alive, Elaine Thompson-Herah (10.79), and newly crowned world champion Sha’Carri Richardson (10.80), who finished the race with third and fourth position, respectively.

From bringing back the dominance of Jamaica on the 100-meter tracks to setting a record with an undefeatable season, Shericka Jackson continues to maintain her form on the tracks. Now the Jackson enthusiasts are waiting for the athlete to exhibit her prowess on the tracks of Paris next year.
