The excitement for the World Athletics Championships is at an all-time high. Much of this excitement can be traced back to one American track and field star. Fred Kerley announced a special partnership before he heads to Budapest for the Championships on August 19. For years the legendary sprinter has either been seen in Nike or Adidas gear. Now with this new partnership, Fred Kerley will don a new logo on his chest.

Kerley became a legend in the track and field world after winning the world champion title twice. He also earned the Olympic silver medal at the Tokyo Games in 2020. Kerley made these achievements in a Nike kit as one of their ambassadors. The iconic sprinter has recently severed his connections with Nike and Adidas and formed a new partnership with their rival brand Asics. Now the question is, will this new collaboration lead to even greater success for Fred Kerley in his athletic career?

Fred Kerley has revealed that he has some highly ambitious plans for the 2023-24 season. After his stellar performance in Eugene, where Kerley won his first individual world title in the 100m track and field event, he mentioned a bold plan. The American ace said that he wants to occupy every record in the sport and win more gold medals than anyone else had done before.

This resolve has pitted him against some of the greatest sprinters, including 8-time gold Olympic gold medalist and 11-time World Champion Usain Bolt.

Speaking about his plans for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Fred Kerley said, “I want a gold medal at the Olympic Games because the gold at the Olympic Games lasts forever”. With this ambition in mind, the 100m World title holder entered into a new partnership with Asics.

The brand made a promotional video with Fred Kerley to announce the collaboration. Asics posted the video on their Instagram account with the caption, “Strong mind, strong body, lightning speed. Fred Kerley is ready to take on the 100m at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest”.

In the video, Fred Kerley announced, “I am ready to make history. I hope the world is ready to see it”. Asics has always been favored by distance runners, but it was never a sprint brand. But that will change now as the company is investing heavily in making shoes for track and field stars such as Kerley.

Asics breaks new ground

Asics has been growing its roster of sprinters by adding renowned sprinters such as Joseph Fahnbulleh and Benjamin Azamati. The company was also targeting a star to represent its new line of sprinting shoes.
