Usain Bolt retired from professional sprinting in 2017, leaving behind a legacy many believed would be impossible to match. Until now, Noah Lyles has been proving himself to be a worthy successor to Bolt’s throne. Noah had the best 200 m season in 2022. The sprinter competed in twelve 200 m races and won them all.

Not only that, but he also got to the finishing line in under 20 seconds. Lyles won the U.S. Nationals and the World Athletics Championships, finishing them in record timings. This moved him to third ranking, with Bolt at the top and Yohan Blake between them. Noah Lyles has been on Bolt’s radar, as the Jamaican sprinter has enjoyed a 13-year-long unbroken record which he set at the World Athletics Championships held in Berlin. Noah is also unabashed about his ambitions and, in an interview, proclaimed bravely, “I have already planned out everyone’s demolished.”

Lyles has been vying for Bolt’s record of 19.19 secs from 2009. But there are other areas where Lyles might surpass the legend in the upcoming NYC Grand Prix. Bolt has the maximum number of wins in the sub-20, with 34 total victories earned between 2004 and 2016. Lyles is creeping quite close to this record with 33 wins, even after lost races due to the 2020 pandemic. His fans believe that Lyles will easily break Bolt’s record and be the top guy in sprinting. Lyles has the best chance to be the best-ever sprinter in the half-lap. He is currently in training and getting to his top shape. For him, it seems the job is never finished.
