Is Noah Lyles' exotic vacation a well-deserved break or an unnecessary flaunt of wealth?

Who wouldn’t want a sabbatical after completing a back-breaking journey? Naturally, Noah Lyles taking some time off from sprinting after his gold and bronze medal haul in Paris shouldn’t be surprising. But he’s not letting off steam alone. Instead, his Jamaican girlfriend Junelle Bromfield is also accompanying the World’s Fastest Man on a much-deserved vacation after her Paris Olympics journey as well. But when we’re talking about these two, can controversy be far behind?

While the couple didn’t let the word out on their destination for the vacation, Lyles dropped the ball and accidentally mentioned the luxury resort they are staying at in the Dominican Republic. But he was quick to delete the update and later re-uploaded the same image as an Instagram story without tagging the resort. The edited post shows a smiling Bromfield with a Lyles turned away from the camera in the background. Captioned “BTS,” the image shows the couple soaking up all the sun they can.

In the previous IG story, the Olympian couple can be seen sharing a drink while sitting all cozy and possibly catching up with each other. With the 2024 Paris Olympics concluded, both sprinters understandably have a lot to talk about on how things went down at the French capital last month. Naturally, a vacation like this was warranted for them to take some time off from their careers before jumping right back in. And from the looks of things, the couple is having a blast.

Junelle’s Instagram updates over the past few hours have all been about their lovey-dovey times together. Captioned “Baecation,” one of her posts shows exactly what’s been all about during their exotic gateway. Noah’s girlfriend also took the opportunity to spread some body positivity as she a series of her own images. Looking stunning, Bromfield rightfully captioned the post “Body,” while she posted yet another video clip soon after where she and Lyles can be seen having a blast out in the sun and in each other’s company. However, they would have much to discuss apart from just the 33rd Olympic Games.

Have an interesting take?

Ever since Lyles spilled his guts ahead of the Olympics about how his beloved has been sharing details of the Jamaican sprinting camp with him, the track and field community has kept coming after Bromfield. The Olympic gold medalist’s girlfriend has been met with severe online criticism for supplying crucial info about her national teammates to the Americans. Many even posited that the comments that Lyles made at the Track World News Podcast in July were enough to understand how he trumped over Kishane Thompson in the City of Love in the men’s 100m dash. However, during the entire fiasco, Noah made sure to keep a firm grip on his beloved’s hands as the couple sought to weather the storm together.

And yet, Bromfield couldn’t help but feel the trolls taking their toll as she took to social media a couple of weeks ago to note how she was being heckled by her own countrymen for the actions they perceived as a betrayal on her part. But she also made it clear that she isn’t weak enough to get bogged down by the hate comments and break things off with Lyles. Instead, she affirmed that it was her boyfriend who supported and ensured Bromfield could face the harsh words of fans without flinching.

But things didn’t end there. On August 23, Bromfield once again took to social media to claim that she had been subjected to more spiteful comments from fans. She went on to note that many of these comments had a colorist tone. “I have been getting cyber bullied for weeks and when it gets talked about I’m a liar because no Jamaican was coming for my features,” Junelle wrote on Instagram, underscoring that such discrimination is still rife in her native country.

Now that the couple has finally found the time to sit back and enjoy life for the moment, will they finally navigate their way to peace? Can they put the entire fiasco in the rearview mirror? It remains to be seen.
