After concluding the 2023 track and field season on a great note, the Jamaican sprinting icon Shericka Jackson again made it to the headlines for her incredible feat. However, this time, the icon did not clinch the spotlight for her on-track prowess but received an honor for her off-track adroitness.

The 200m World Champion, Shericka Jackson recently got honored by the University of Technology as she received her doctorate degree. With this, the sprinting legend added one more accolade to her already impressive resume, and asserted why she is a force to be reckoned with both on and off the tracks. Following this, Jackson’s fandom expressed their regards for the champion for completing her alma mater. Nevertheless, the cheering voice that took all the social media brownie points belonged to her compatriot, Junelle Bromfield.

The friendship between the two Jamaican track athletes came under the spotlight after Bromfield shared a sweet congratulations note on her social media after Jackson’s accomplishment. Jackson shared a bunch of congratulations stories on her Instagram and one of them that amassed attention was of Noah Lyles‘ girlfriend.

Jackson re-posted the story of Bromfield on her Instagram account. This story carried the video of Jackson getting honored with an honorary doctorate degree from UTech. Bromfield wrote, “Watch mi fren”, she further added, “You deserve this”.?

Interestingly, as Jackson now earned herself a doctorate degree, she’s no longer just a track and field icon, but also Dr. Shericka Jackson who knows how to ace every avenue where ever she sets her foot in. Following this, not only Bromfield but Jackson’s brand deals also congratulated her. Her recent collaboration with the brand ‘Wata’ penned, “We present to you, Dr. Shericka Jackson. Our WATA Champion Girl was conferred with an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Technology, UTECH”

She has been non-stoppable this year, be it on the track or off it. This addition is one of the most respectable achievements to be added to her list of feats.

The second fastest woman of all time in 200m has not failed to astonish her fans with her exemplary achievements this year. Her wins on the track have been commendable but so has been her accomplishments off the track. The Jamaican sprinter has been honored with an honorary Doctor of Laws degree by the University of Technology on the 18th of November 2023.

She was selected among three extraordinary Jamaica natives to be conferred with an honorary doctorates during the 2023 graduation ceremony of the UTech at its Papine Campus. Jackson was treated with a huge round of applause as she stood atop the podium to receive the award. Apart from her, the other two were the Governor of the Bank of Jamaica, Richard Byles, and ICT and Engineering Process Control Expert Dr. Patrick Dallas.
