Where were you when Tyreek Hill first challenged Noah Lyles to a fiery race? The 27-year-old stunned the world when he boldly exclaimed, “World Champions of what? The United States?” after bagging three world titles at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest. A year later, the sprinter bagged the Olympic 100m champion title amid a raucous crowd in Stade de France. But this statement still stung the Miami Dolphins wide receiver, who, in turn, claimed that he would beat Noah Lyles.

So much has gone on since then. If you haven’t been in the know, here’s what you’ve missed out on. The Olympian raced the popular YouTuber IShowSpeed for a massive cash prize of $100,000 in a showdown orchestrated by MrBeast. Even though the sprinter edged the content creator for an easy win, it almost seemed like Speed had it in the bag. This only added to Hill’s confidence. However, the track and field community might need to prepare themselves for an exciting new face-off. What is it?

Fans have been waiting for the much-anticipated duel between the star athletes. But another thrilling rivalry has come forward. On an episode of his podcast, Beyond The Records, fellow Olympians Rai Benjamin and Grant Holloway discussed the drama surrounding NFL players. But it took a cheeky turn when the reigning world champion asked his compatriot if he would race DK Metcalf during the Pro-bowl. The 27-year-old shared this fun interaction with fans on X, captioned, “Let’s Set this up a Track Vs. NFL Event.” Does this mean that we have a new duel to look forward to?

While there are no specific details about the showdown, the 3x world champion goaded Holloway to challenge the Seattle Seahawks wide receiver to a 40-yard dash. The Olympic 110H champion confessed that if the 27-year-old raced Hill and Xavier Worthy locked horns with Christian Coleman in a 40-yard race, then he would be up for it. Benjamin exclaimed that it would be interesting to watch this take place at the 2025 NFL Pro Bowl Games.

However, when he asked Noah Lyles to elaborate, with a cheeky smile, he confessed that he had given away too much information. On the other hand, he compared the undercard’s format to the tussle between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. While an NFL and track and field crossover will be unlikely next year, it doesn’t hurt for some wishful thinking, doesn’t it? But what started this unusual debate?

Track vs. NFL: Who do you think would dominate in a head-to-head race?

Have an interesting take?

When Tyreek Hill challenged the Olympian, it took a lot of back and forth before the 27-year-old finally accepted the challenge. Yet, after his race with Speed, the Miami Dolphins wide receiver couldn’t help but point out that he won by an incredibly small margin. He poked fun at how the sprinter confidently stated he could beat him. But has the reigning world champion ever backed down from a challenge? He promptly hit back by exclaiming that he would dance across the NFL athlete on the line. So, when will we see the duo battle it out?

The athletes will finally lock horns in 2025

Since Tyreek Hill threw out the challenge, numerous fans have been waiting for the reported feud to unfold. Enter Terry Crews! The actor has already been on the NFL side, boasting a seven-year career he didn’t quite enjoy. On the other hand, he still hasn’t lost touch with the sport and wanted to host a unique event that would pin Olympic sprinters against pro athletes.

Crews’ agency, Super Serious, will host the Super Serious On Sight series. So, what’s the main event? It will be none other than Noah Lyles vs. Tyreek Hill. The Olympian hinted at the showdown in an interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer, stating they were currently in talks. Even though information about the event hasn’t been finalized yet, we finally have something to go by.

Ad Age reported that Super Serious is looking to host the fiery duel between the duo in 2025. In fact, this will be a part of the Duael competition, a new track league set to feature head-to-head competition in an elimination-style tournament between athletes competing against each other.

How did this come about, you ask? The ad agency connected with Noah Lyles after he signed up to be a part of an event. So, how did they get Hill to agree to it? Well, this is where Terry Crews’ NFL connection came into play. The actor was still friends with the Miami Dolphins wide receiver’s manager, Drew Rosenhaus. We don’t know what the mega showdown entails. But it will be exciting to watch more of these unique crossovers in the future. Do you agree?
