At the European Master Championships in Italy, Emma Maria Mazzenga created a new world record by winning the 200-meter indoor race. An update was shared by @AthleticsWeekly that shared: A 90-year-old running 200m indoors in around 54 seconds…That smashes the previous world W90 200m indoor record of just over one minute.”

Mazzenga smashed the 13-year-old-historic record held by Canadian Olga Kotelko in the 200 meters with an amazing time of 54.47 seconds, creating a new world record in the W90 category. The post also highlighted, “Mazzenga resumed training less than a month before the competition, having taken four months off to recover from a sternum fracture.”

The accomplishment is even more remarkable given that she had to cope with a fracture. But in the end, her fortitude paid off, and she was able to return to the track in better shape than before. The master runner started competing in the events at the age of 53, and since then, she has won several titles and set two world records! A similar grandeur of athletics prowess is seen in another Indoor circuit.
