Nike has a reputation for sponsoring only the top athletes in their sports. This is the reason they have put their money on athletes like Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James over the years. Thus, when they signed track star Sha’Carri Richardson in March, people expected pretty big things from the collaboration. It seems the company is living up to the expectations of it, as not only was she the face of their spring collection, but she is also part of their athlete think tank program.
This is an initiative by Nike that aims to improve women’s sports by amplifying the voices of notable female athletes. The fourth edition of the program was held recently in Cancun, Mexico, and featured top athletes like Sha’Carri Richardson, Sanya Richards Ross, Sue Bird, and many others.
On November 19th, Sha’Carri Richardson reposted an Instagram post of Sanya Richards Ross in her story as she posed with a lot of the other athletes signed by Nike during the Think Tank program. The post was about how the company takes good care of its athletes, unlike other brands. “This is what it looks like to be seen, heard, and supported by the brand partner @nike,” read the caption of the original post.

Afterward, the caption also talked about how the company has brought some elite women together, and hopefully, they inspire more athletes for generations to come through this Think Tank program. Sha’Carri Richardson then reuploaded this post, which had a carousel of pictures, and inserted background music from Nikki Minaj’s Moment 4 Life. She captioned the story, saying, “Sisterhood is a beautiful thing,” while tagging Sanya Richards Ross. Her camaraderie with the track and field legend was quite noticeable, as both posed for numerous photos together.
The duo seem to be very fond of each other, as the four-time Olympic gold medalist has praised Sha’Carri Richardson multiple times before. Before the Olympics, she was asked to give three words to describe the track star. Sanya labeled her as a superstar, dynamic, and champion. She then went on to praise her for her incredible performance at the World Championships, winning the gold medal in one of the toughest line-ups brought together.
She said, “I think for her and I hope for her; that gave her tremendous confidence because we all know the talent is there. It’s just about her running in that confident, authentic body of hers and giving it everything that she has. I am excited to see what she does this season. It’s really shaping up for me to be Sha’Carri’s year. I think she could really back up that world championship with her first Olympic gold medal.”
Sha’Carri would indeed win her first-ever Olympic gold at the 4×400-meter race in Paris, making her predictions true. Thus, they both seemed to like each other in the Think Tank program. However, even more track legends were present in the program other than both of them.
Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce attends Nike’s Think Tank program alongside Sha’Carri Richardson
There were numerous other track stars other than Sha’Carri Richardson in the Think Tank get-together. One of the most notable ones was recently retired Jamaican legend, Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce. The 37-year-old shared a glimpse of the show on her Instagram, captioning the post with, “I have had the pleasure of being part of the ATT journey since its inception, and this most recent gathering was the most impactful experience we’ve had thus far.”

Other than Shelly, even Dina Asher-Smith and Paralympian gold medalist Sophie Hahn were present in the show. Sophie would also share a photo of this get-together of track stars, captioning it with “track queens.” Thus, it was very interesting to see all these athletes coming together under one roof for the betterment of the sport.
It also showed Nike’s long-term commitment to female athletics, as their impressive list of signed female stars was visible to the whole world. This is why it seems that the Athletic Think Tank would eventually become a huge success and improve the sport a lot.
