Rivalries are a part of competitions. Every decorated athlete has their rivals in their respective sport. They are celebrated and are considered a healthy part of sports. In sprinting events, Elaine Thompson-Herah and Sha’Carri Richardson are among the best in their class. Therefore, a rivalry between the two athletes is imminent.

Every year, the Prefontaine Classic witnesses some of the biggest names in track and field. Moreover, it is the brewing ground for some of the well-known rivalries in the sport. Therefore, the two most celebrated names in sprinting had to find their resolve of coming out on top.
Elaine Thompson-Herah supports Sha’Carri
Although Thompson-Herah currently holds the title of the fastest woman alive, Sha?Carri is just trailing behind. The American sprinter is the sixth fastest woman of all time and the fourth-fastest American woman in history. Therefore, a clash in time is likely to happen every time the two athletes compete in an event together.
So far, Elaine is leading the charts. But Richardson is slowly closing in on the Jamaican athlete, as was apparent during the recent Prefontaine Classic. Sha’Carri secured the second position in the event this year.
After the race, Thompson-Herah faced media personnel for a few questions. During the interview, one of the journalists asked the athlete about her thoughts on Sha’Carri making her way back to the competitions.

Replying to this, the sprinter said, ?She’s a good athlete, and I think she’s taking her way back on the track. And I think you guys should give her some breath and let her breathe and come manage and perform.?
The 100m event at the Prefontaine Classic

On May 28, the 100m event at Hayward Field featured some of the fastest names in the sport. However, as the starting gun goes off, Thompson-Herah makes a strong start. The six-time Olympic medalist takes a significant lead by the halfway mark and runs to victory, clocking 10.79 seconds.
Although she set her season-best time in the event, it is slower than last year when she set the meeting record of 10.54s.

Sha’Carri finished second in the meet with a time of 10.92s, trailing behind Elaine by just 0.13s Interestingly, Shericka Jackson, who secured the third position, also clocked the same time as Richardson (10.92s).
