Kerley and Jacobs went against each other at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which resulted in a victory for the latter. This race would be important for both of them. One to cement his legacy as a consistent fast sprinter, while the other to challenge Usain Bolt’s record.
Can Fred Kerley do the unthinkable?
The world record set by Usain Bolt back at the 2009 World Championships is up there with the best. It is a record that only some can come close to. The existing record is 9.58 seconds. The second best time in the event is 9.69 by Tyson Gay. That’s the difference. As for Kerley, his personal best in the 100-meters in 9.84 seconds. Challenging Usain Bolt’s time is not a straightforward task. However, he remains positive about doing a great job.

“I just play it ear by ear and basically be within myself. Continue to support me and continue to root for me and I appreciate everyone that ever supported me,” said Kerley.
Completely focused on the task ahead, Fred Kerley is looking to dominate the 100-meters race. He has transitioned smoothly from being a 400-meters sprinter to a 100-meters world-class sprinter. Apart from chasing Bolt’s record, there is a side-story that develops. It is also a rematch of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics race with Marcell Jacobs.
A rematch for the 100-meters championships
It was the first time after 12 years that a 100-meters champion was about to be crowned after Bolt’s dominance. That title went out to Jacobs, who won the race at a blistering pace. But Kerley got into the act as well by taking home the silver medal. This makes up for an interesting race between these two superstars. On the other hand, Kerley is unique in many ways.
