Overjoy took over the track and field sensation for a long 20 minutes. Despite having a major setback, the 2016 Olympic star could not hold his emotions when his friends got into the looming 2024 pairs Olympics. Training partners Connor Mantz and Clayton Young got their feet into the Olympics qualification marathon trail this Saturday.
Mantz and Young showcased their brotherhood by reaching the finishing line first and second consecutively, with a little high-five in between the races. But there is another person who was equally happy to see them join the national team and who even shed tears over their remarkable victory, just the way they all had dreamed of it.

34-year-old Jared Ward is an Olympian who coveted the sixth spot at the Rio Olympics. A video swirled down the internet where he shared his mention of his friend winning the spot even when he couldn’t. It was posted on the official Twitter page of Citiua MAG with the caption, “@jwardy21 gets emotional after watching his teammates Conner Mantz and Clayton Young finish 1-2 to qualify for the Olympic team together. “

The Orlando resident had to withdraw himself from the event because of his growing hamstring pain. He sustained the injury while practicing for the race. But he shared his happiness when he saw his friend secure their places in the Pris Olympics. He said, “I’ve been crying for 20 minutes, so, you know, I’m figuring out my emotions, but I don’t think I’ve ever been happier at a finish line in my whole years of racing. ”
In the interview, he even said, “Like, it was, it was, it was even better than I had imagined when they crossed the line how we dreamed.” Which proves their motivation and drive towards the Paris Olympics.

Setbacks won’t take them away from the field
Along with Jared Ward, Molly Seigel has also taken a step back from the marathon due to her injury. She shared an Instagram video where she gave the news to her fans and also wished her fellow mates good luck.

The BYU professor stood in 10th place when he ran at the New York City Marathon. At the age of 27, he secured 27th place at the Berlin Marathon in September 2020. A few years ago, he raised a fund of $1666,400 for the Run Elite Program in Utah. Even though fans lost sight of them sprinting, they hoped they would make their way back to the world of track and field.
