Talitha Diggs discovered her affinity for athletics at a young age. With her mother’s and aunt’s names under multiple Olympic medals, the Diggs family is one of the first track and field families in the US. And now Talitha appears to be following in her family’s footsteps.

Talitha Diggs is currently a student at the University of Florida, specializing in 400 meters. And although the Diggs family’s success has inspired Talitha, the athlete still believes that she has to forge her path. In an interview, the athlete revealed how her mother?s sacrifice has strengthened her will to achieve things and make her own name.

In June 2023, in an interview with the Olympic News, Talitha revealed the sacrifices her mother had to make to reach the pinnacle of success. As she stated, “My mom, to be a four-time Olympian, I know she had to work really hard. I’m immersed in the process right now.” Later, the athlete added, “To see that she has achieved so much, I know that she has sacrificed so much. That helps me want to sacrifice because I’m like, ‘Hey, look, my mom achieved all of these great things. I want to achieve great things too, It’s going to take sacrifice,” as the runner emphasizes her mother?s sacrifice.

This realization has made Talitha’s will to sacrifice stronger, as she wants to achieve great things as well. However, besides her family, Diggs is also inspired by the most decorated runner, Allyson Felix. Since childhood, Diggs had seen Felix achieving momentous victories at the Olympics. Diggs also considers herself lucky ?to pass the baton to Felix in her last race. From being inspired by her family to Felix, Talitha Diggs has achieved a lot in her athletic journey and aims to achieve much more.

Nicknamed as “Telethal”, Diggs has a reputation for being fierce at the tracks of the University of Florida. Besides this, Talitha Diggs is also an 11-time USTFCCCA honoree who was recently awarded the NCAA Division I Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country Academic All-American of the Year by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). Last year in Eugene, Oregon, Diggs also reached the podium at the Sydney 400m championship. And Now Talitha Diggs looks forward to holding up her family?s name as she aims for the Olympics in Paris in 2024.

When asked about the Big game, Talitha stated, “I think of opportunity; I think of the big stage.” She accepted. The fact that I get to potentially be that for someone else is really humbling,” she said. “It’s something that I’m really grateful for and excited for too.” Hopefully, Talitha will be able to secure her name at the Paris Games of 2024 and achieve another milestone in her athletic journey.
