Most of the athletes coming up in the world of track and field feature distinguished strategies and methods to turn heads with exceptional performances. But, this is not the case with Martin Maric, who passed with flying colors multiple times on the global level. Martin has a massive list of accomplishments under his name.

In 2009, Martin came up on the NCAA field to win the championship title. After the win, Martin said there was no technique behind the throw! The clip recently resurfaced on social media. Meanwhile, a comment on the post from Reggie L. Jagers, an Olympic discus thrower has given the matter a whole new dimension.

In a recent Instagram post shared by Throwers Universe, it was captioned,” “There was NO technique in that throw!” That time, Martin Marić won an NCAA title in the discus in the FINAL round by just 2cm (2009).” By showcasing prowess on the field, Martin made it to the final round of the event. But, the major spectacle was the final round. The crux of the final round of the NCAA title was that Martin secured the title by just 2cm in the event. The latest Instagram post also referred to this by hilariously adding a screenshot of a post by another discus thrower Ryan Whiting who had to settle for second place in that competition.

Ryan Whiting fell short of clinching first place by a hair’s breadth. The screenshot of the social media post shows a question, “Did you know: USC Throws coach Martin Maric was an ELITE discus thrower?” To this Whiting wittily replied, “Yea I definitely knew that, he beat me by 2cm in 2009 at NCAA champs for the win” In the clip Martin can be heard saying, “I wasn’t prepared for this…There was no technique in that throw.”

With Martin Maric’s epic performance of the yesteryears and Ryan Whiting’s social media post, Olympic discus thrower Reggie L. Jagers also delved into the nostalgia as he offered ‘consolation’ to Whiting.

As the clip and Whiting’s post were doing rounds on social media, Reggie humorously offered some consolation to Whiting as he commented on it, “This is bringing back memories; I feel triggered. I feel your pain, Ryan Whiting.” Even though Reggie was not present at the NCAA 2009, he seems to relate well to the pain of Ryan Whiting that he would have witnessed as he failed to accomplish gold by just 2 cm.
