As the 2022 World Athletics Championships are just around the corner, the 100-meter trials are underway. However, Sha’Carri Richardson won’t participate in the race after struggling to post a worthy time. She finished fifth and could not replicate the success she showed at the 2022 Prefontaine Classic. A disappointing outing for the talented sprinter, Richardson would hope to qualify for the 200-meters.

Most fans criticized her on social media after failing to speak to the media. With her performances vastly improved from last year, the track and field fraternity expected great things for the talented sprinter. Some tweets saw her questioning her professionalism, while others focused on bantering her for her escape from the post-race interview.

Fans react to Sha’Carri Richardson’s loss

Richardson set 11.31 seconds and failed to qualify for the next round. Being one favorite to win the race, she is out of the 100-meters. Hence, Twitter caught fire. There were tweets related to her running away from the media, and fans criticized her. Most athletes give out interviews after the race, and Richardson failed to do that. Hence, a fan questioned her professionalism for not facing the media, to which many people replied.

One fan commented“damn. she gotta be more professional.” Another fan commented on how she ran so fast from the media and how she could have replicated that in her race. “If only she was that fast during her race she would have advanced.” Tweets came in thick and fast for the sprinter, and a fan expressed opinions on her start in the race. “Better start from her getting past the media than out of the blocks.”

Another fan compared her to LSU’s Abby Steiner, who is creating ripples in the USA. Steiner has created a personal best in the 200-meters by setting 21.80 in the 200-meter and 10.90 in the 100-meter. With her rapid improvement, Richardson has her work cut out. The fan commented, “She’s not as good as LSU’s Ofili or Kentucky’s Abby Steiner.” However, there were some tweets to support the sprinter and wanted her to be left alone.

Fans commented on how she should focus on the world ahead rather than focusing on what happened on social media. Hence, there were many tweets in support of Sha’Carri Richardson.

The loss is a pretty hard one to take for Richardson. She is one of the best sprinters in the world and working her way to the top. However, sometimes inconsistency creeps into her performance, which stops her from winning races. Hopefully, she can put this behind her, and focus on the 200-meters.
