Gabby Thomas had her ultimate pinch me’ moment at the Paris 2024 Olympics, calling it “the happiest moment of my life”—and we can’t really argue with her on that. She ran through the women’s 200 meters like a woman on a mission and finished the race in 21.83 seconds to get that gold. Oh, and let’s not forget, she already had a bronze from Tokyo to her name. How about kicking it up a notch in terms of style? “I don’t think,” she gushed, “it could have gone any better.” With a perfect burst at the curve, Gabby left everyone eating her dust, including 100-meter champ Julien Alfred, who trailed 0.25 seconds behind at 22.08.

But Gabby wasn’t done just yet—nope! She added not one but TWO more golds in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays because, well, she’s Gabby Thomas. A triple gold haul? She’s rewriting the definition of legendary. And while Gabby’s golden glow had us all in awe, even the fiercest champions have their quirks. Yep, the sprint queen herself has spilled the tea on her “toxic trait,” proving she’s just as human as the rest of us.

Gabby Thomas has a toxic trait!

Gabby Thomas hopped onto X on December 13 and casually shared her “toxic trait” with the world—my toxic trait is believing I could run a sub 5 mile.” Honestly, who doesn’t have those wild dreams during a tough training session? A few days before, Gabby decided to test her limits and gave a mile a go. Of course, being the determined athlete she is, a video from the Track: All Access Channel surfaced on YouTube, showing her clocking in at 5:43. Gabby Thomas’ “toxic trait” was immediately shut down by track and field lovers, with responses such as, “That’s absolutely possible. 💯” Despite not quite hitting a sub-5-mile just yet, Gabby’s sprinting game is unmatched. On the shortest distance—the 100m—she holds a wind-aided personal best of 10.80 seconds, set back in April 2022, with her legal best sitting at 11 seconds.

So, who knows? It would not be a great shock if she hits the sub-5-mile someday with such speed. And honestly, this was only the beginning of the positive energy that began to pour into her comment section. Fans poured in with endless support, showing they wholeheartedly believed in Gabby’s potential.
