In the realm of track and field, the marathon is the ultimate test of human stamina and resilience. Recently, the San Diego Holiday Half Marathon once again witnessed all these in full glory. One standout name in the event was the Scottish middle-distance runner Josh Kerr. He is the 1500m world champion and has made his space in the track and field realm with his exceptional performances.
The sprinter yet again made waves in the Holiday Half this year after his performance last year. This year, Josh Kerr gave an even more thrilling performance to witness at the event. Recently, he spoke about his track skills after his commendable performance in the event.

The San Diego Holiday Half Marathon is a fast 13.1-mile course that begins on Penasquitos Drive and Carmel Mountain Road. It continues to the SW along Carmel Mountain Rd including the 56 bike path, and concludes at the beautiful Torrey Pines State Beach. After continuing with his fabulous display in the event in back-to-back years, Citius Mag shared a video of Kerr talking about his skills and experience on their X account. The caption carried, “Hear from 1500m World Champion Josh Kerr after running a PR of 61:51 at the San Diego Holiday Half”.

He pulled off a 61:51 at the event and surpassed his last year’s score by 1:55. He after this feat expressed his feelings about this performance, highlighting his track skills. Kerr expressed that it was all about him achieving the new score which is faster than last year. He added, “I have a bit more experience in the event and am obviously feeling a little bit fitter and have some better gear on the feet”. He also expressed that this feat makes a big difference, and he was happy with it. This is not the first time he has amazed his fans. His last year’s debut in the event was also widely loved.

The Scottish sprinter’s debut at the Holiday Half
Josh Kerr’s surprise half-marathon debut went extremely well in 2022. On December 17, he delivered an exceptional performance in the half marathon. He ran a distance which is much longer than he normally does and attained a fourth position by clocking a time of 1:03:44. He received a lot of love and appreciation for this unexpected performance in an event that didn’t come under his expertise.

This Scottish sprinter also stood atop the podium in the 2015 European Junior Championships. With this, he also was the face of Great Britain at the 2017 World Championships. Josh Kerr also nabbed gold in the 2023 World Athletics Championships in the 1500 meters by defeating Jakob Ingebrigtsen.
