US Sprinting icon Sha’Carri Richardson has been a force to be reckoned with in the 2023 season. From standing atop the podium at the 2023 Doha Diamond League to clinching the 100m world title at the 2023 World Athletics Championships, Richardson covered it all. Now, as she ended her 2023 track and field season with absolute finesse, the sprinter received the honor of multiple accolades for her staunch run throughout the season.

In October 2023, the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees unanimously decided to name the Jesse Owens Athletic Complex’s John Kincaide Stadium after Sha’Carri Richardson. Following this honor, the fastest woman in the 100m roster added one more accolade on her wall of fame – the USATF Female Athlete of the Year.

The fastest woman on earth has had an impressive season this year. Be it the World Championships in Budapest or getting a track named to herself, she has once again proved her worth by achieving one of the most honorable awards.

On November 16h, the LSU alum was awarded the USATF 2023 Jackie Joyner-Kersee Female Athlete of the Year Award, which is one of the highest accolades for women in USATF. After this feat, she re-posted a post of the USATF on her Instagram story of her winning the award. The caption in this story carried, “I am speechless.. Thank you.”

Interestingly, this award will be presented to her on the 2nd of December 2023, at the USATF Night of Legends. This is a part of the USATF annual meeting which will be held in Orlando, Florida.

This season has been a circle of emotions for the reigning 100m champion, and she has shown nothing but sportsman spirit in every situation.

The stupendous season of the reigning 100m world champion

Sha’carri Richardson is at the pinnacle of her vocation as she clinched multiple victories after making a comeback this year. First at the 2023 Doha Diamond League then at the 2023 Zurich Diamond League, Richardson continued dominating the tracks by winning the 100m rosters.

More so, the 2023 World Athletics Championships held in Budapest was one of the highlights of her season. She nabbed a gold medal in the 100m in a time of 10.65 seconds.

After this, she also accomplished a top position in women’s 100m at three Diamond League series. She was one of the 11 nominees for the Woman World Athlete of the Year, but unfortunately couldn’t make it to the finals. Apart from this, she also, with her extraordinary performances, got the Dallas ISD track located at John Kincaide Stadium in Southern Dallas named after her. Now, her admirers are on their toes to witness what she brings to the table next.
