Can’t get enough of Quincy Wilson? We don’t blame you! The track and field circuit was ablaze with his pursuits this season. But the pièce de résistance was his debut on the world’s biggest stage at the French capital. He took on the leadoff leg for Team USA in the 4×400-meter relay heats. However, the Wunderkind didn’t run in the finals. Yet he snagged Olympic hardware for his contribution, becoming the youngest American male track and field Olympian ever.
But as the dust settled on his exceptional stint in Paris, it was time for the Bullis High School student to return to his school routine. The 16-year-old wasn’t too keen on that himself. Yet he did take a break for it all homecoming. One thing’s for certain. Wherever the sprinter goes, the spotlight surely follows. Yet he has been busy making appearances, hanging out with the who’s who, and making official collegiate visits. How has that been going for him?

The 2024 season was quite exciting for the Olympian. Yet after Paris, he immediately shifted his focus to something bigger—his future. Quincy Wilson officially started making collegiate visits in October, leading him to the University of Florida. On November 7, the 16-year-old shared an image of himself with Coach Mike Holloway on Instagram. He captioned the post, “Thanks Coach Holloway @headgatortrk and @gatorstf for taking the time to visit my family and I. Thanks for educating me on the gator nation.” Could this be the one for him?
The short answer is, no, it isn’t. In the caption, he included the hashtag “#notcommitted.” The sprinter has been visiting several campuses all over the US, looking for the right fit for the NCAA season. He first visited the Texas A&M campus and did a photoshoot wearing their jersey. While it seemed like a good option due to his admiration of Fred Kerley, he trudged on to his next option, the University of Georgia. But another photoshoot seemed to raise more questions about his future.
Quincy Wilson’s next stop was the University of Tennessee. Yet, the pattern continued to remain the same. Given how he hasn’t committed to any of the colleges yet, this sent fans into a frenzy. Admittedly, his performance at the Paris Olympics had turned heads, but many were eager to find out which college the 16-year-old would finally settle on. However, he seems to be taking his time by exploring his options and taking a break to spend some more time with his girlfriend, Solai Russell.
Living his best teenage life, the Olympian shared images from his school prom on Instagram. On October 27, the wunderkind donned a dapper suit, while Russell, an athlete and sister of the 100m hurdles Olympic champion, Masai Russell, looked ethereal in a vibrant green gown. The duo have been childhood friends, and watching that turn into a beautiful romance has tugged at several heartstrings. However, fans couldn’t help but rejoice over his latest collegiate visit. What did they have to say?
Track and Field fans are hoping that the Gator Nation is endgame
Even though Quincy Wilson dropped breadcrumbs suggesting a possible NCAA path, many were left puzzled by his photoshoots along the way. Yet he didn’t follow that familiar pattern when he shared an image with Coach Mike Holloway. However, fans have taken this as a positive sign and rallied behind him.
One fan opined, “There is nothing greater than to be a Gator!” The men’s track and field team won their third NCAA Outdoor Championship earlier this season. It looks like the 100mH Olympic gold medalist Grant Holloway agreed, “That’s what we like to see 🔥❤️” We can see why. The athlete is a former Gator himself.
During his time at the University of Florida, Holloway clinched eight individual and three NCAA titles. However, he decided to take a break from school so he could pursue a professional career in track and field. Even though he has racked up several accolades since, he wanted to finish his Education Sciences Degree program, which he did in May this year. Maybe the Olympian hoped this could be a common factor between himself and Quincy Wilson.

A fan stated, “This one might be the move Quincy.” It’s no surprise that the 16-year-old is checking out every option before taking a call. Yet another fan doubled down, “I was waiting for this. This is the one! GO GATORS!” In the program’s history, the Florida Gators have bagged 14 national championships—7 outdoor and 7 indoor. In fact, two of these came about in 2022 and 2023. So, we understand why these fans are excited.
Quincy Wilson hasn’t committed to any colleges just yet. However, many believed the 16-year-old would settle for his first collegiate visit due to Fred Kerley. Keeping the Florida Gators’ success rate in mind, many hoped this would sway the Olympian’s decision. But will it be enough, or will he check out more colleges in the future?

One fan exclaimed, “Oh I was waiting on this visit #GoGators.” The wunderkind met with the coach after making 3 official college visits. However, another fan pointed out, “Homie chilling at the crib!!! If he goes college route this is it fosho.” The debate of whether he will pick the professional or collegiate route is still going strong. But these fans think that Florida is the way to go!
Mike Holloway has been the head coach at the University of Florida since 2007. Since he took over, the Florida track and field program has been one of the most consistently productive teams throughout. In fact, under his guidance, the Gators have snagged 13 NCAA Championship titles. With 21 years under Coach Holloway’s belt, the Gators finished top 5 in 30 out of 40 men’s NCAA championships. The fans seem to have spoken, hoping for a brighter future for the 16-year-old. But what college will Quincy Wilson commit to? We will have to wait and watch.
