Hassan, on the other hand, will make a debut at the Tokyo marathon event.

Eliud Kipchoge and Sifan Hassan set to race the Tokyo Marathon

Eliud Kipchoge and Sifan Hassan, best known for their versatility in running championships, will challenge each other in the Tokyo Marathon. FloTrack took to their Twitter handle, to reveal the breaking news. The tweet reads, “Marathon great Eliud Kipchoge and 2023 London and Chicago Marathon champion Sifan Hassan will race the 2024 Tokyo Marathon on March 3.”

The annual marathon sporting event will take place on March 3, 2024 in Tokyo. This will be marked as the 17th running event where both running legends will be targeting to make historical records. The marathon champions will tackle the 26.2-mile distance. The victory of each contender will pave the path to the Paris Olympics 2024.

From Tokyo to Paris for Kipchoge and Hassan

Two-time reigning Olympic champion, Eliud Kipchoge is known for showcasing his prowess in Tokyo Marathon in 2022. Eliud has not only won the gold medal in this event but also set an excellent running record in 2 hours, 2 minutes, and 40 seconds with his dominating running skills. So, once again, Eliud is all set to compete in the upcoming Tokyo Marathon race. He remarked, “I feel good working towards my next race in Tokyo. For me, it is the perfect preparation for my aim to win my third consecutive Olympic title next summer in Paris.”

On the other hand, the Tokyo marathon is a debut for Hassan who recently enjoyed her victory in London, clocking to 2:18:33. Not only this, she was the second-fastest performer in Chicago clocking to 2:13:44. Most renowned for her efforts that set world records over a wide range of distances, Sifan Hassan has garnered numerous accolades including winning Olympic titles in the 5,000m and 10,000m in 2021.

In a recent release, the spectacular runner revealed her anticipation for the next biggest marathon event. “I feel Tokyo is the perfect preparation for the Paris Olympic Games because I have great Olympic memories in the city of Tokyo and I feel I can fuel my Olympic fire there,” Sifan stated in the release.
