The new US championship viewership policy has stirred up trouble for the sports media. According to this policy, The US Outdoor Track and Field Championship will not be airing live on NBC this year. The championship is only available on the subscribed channel, USATF.TV. This move has left many fans and top-tier athletes, including Sha’Carri Richardson disappointed.

Although Sha’Carri Richardson is busy dominating the tracks these days, the track and field champion is still fighting the viewership policy to the bone. Richardson, who used to reach her target audience through Instagram, has now also expressed her disappointment with the policy through Twitter.

Recently, a fan posted on Twitter complaining about the USA TVF being an abomination as the fan expected more from a channel that is behind a paywall. Richardson, understanding the fan’s disappointment, replied to the tweet, “If y’all support track & field, DO NOT PAY FOR USATF.TV.” Just wait until the races hit social media!” 

Furthermore, the athlete also expressed her disappointment about the overall poor treatment of the track and field community. As, after Joey Chestnut won his 16th hot dog championship on Live television and was awarded $10,000, many athletes, including Richardson, took this opportunity to highlight the US track and field situation. As the athlete shared a tweet emphasizing how at the US track and field championship, the first position holder only got $8,000. The disappointed athlete also accused the corporation of not respecting their sport. Following this, Richardson has decided to take matters into her own hands now. The athlete believes the runner should have their own voice in such matters. And to do so, the athlete is building up a team to form an athlete union.

Richardson building a team to fight back

After being disappointed by the corporate Sha’Carri Richardson has decided to form a union. And to do so, the athlete is posting videos on Instagram to reach her audience. Last week, Richardson posted a video on Instagram, asking the athletes against this motive to meet. The initiative was a success, as around 160 athletes joined the meet. After that, Richardson initiated several meetings to join as many athletes as possible in the union. As Sha’Carri Richardson is looking forward to creating a team that will impact the decision.
