There are few stars in the track and field world who can match Noah Lyles’ aura. The 27-year-old loves to shut his critics up with his mind-numbing speeds, and nowhere was it more on display than at the Paris Olympics earlier this year. Winning gold in the men’s 100m final and bronze in the 200m, Lyles made it clear that he’s never joking around about his prowess. And that’s exactly what prompted him to take on IShowSpeed.
The YouTuber is another charismatic character who loves to go toe-to-toe with professional athletes. Over the years, the streamer has also proved that he has some stuff in his arsenal that allows him to back up his big claims. But clashing against Noah Lyles wasn’t the same, and the one of the ‘World’s Fastest Man’ had some aces up his sleeve he knew wouldn’t allow Speed to beat him.

Noah appeared in an episode of Beyond The Records Podcast, which was uploaded on YouTube on December 12. In the show, Lyles talked about how the experience of racing against Speed was like a walk in the park for him. The Virginia native revealed that he got in touch with the social media personality while doing a video shoot with MrBeast and Speed responded instantly. He also said that Speed was incredibly excited for the opportunity and didn’t want to waste any time to get the ball rolling.
“He gets the track. I said you want to warm up; he’s like, nah, no, I don’t need to warm up,” Noah Lyles said while chuckling about how Speed instead did a backflip to get his blood flowing. He also said that it was a new experience for him. “This is like my first time really seeing a streamer like go at it,” the Olympian stated. But he wouldn’t let that distract him from the task at hand.
After deciding on the details for the race, like whether to use the starting blocks, the spikes for Speed, and the distance they’d race over, Lyles and his YouTuber opponent lined up. But Noah’s coach wasn’t satisfied with the setup and did his best to convince the former that the race needed to be over the standard 100 meters and did his best to tell him that the sprinter needed to go all in. “You need to put this man in the dirt,” Noah said about how his coach kept pestering him to show his true self on the track even though he was racing against Speed. But Lyles had a different plan.
“If I make it 50, I can make it close enough to where I don’t have to try as hard, but I can still make it close,” he thought, and that’s what ultimately happened. Without breaking much sweat, Noah Lyles beat Speed to the finishing line, despite what the YouTuber has claimed later on. But now that Lyles’ superiority has been proved once again, will the others step up to walk their talks?
Trash-talking won’t get you anywhere with the Olympic champ
Lyles’s 3rd place finish in the men’s 200m final at the 33rd Olympics in the French capital raised many eyebrows. When later it was revealed that he ran the race with COVID-19, many fans speculated whether the results would have been entirely different if he had been in the best physical conditions. While that can’t be known for sure, Lyles is up for a challenge whenever anyone posits something like that. Among such verbal feuds, Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill’s name has come several times.

The NFL star has often claimed that he would leave Noah in the dirt should they ever cross paths over the 60-meter dash. But so far, Hill hasn’t shown a lot of enthusiasm or response to Lyles’ agreement to get it happened. “The man dodges smoke; I don’t got time for that,” Lyles said recently, once again highlighting that Tyreek needs to show everyone he isn’t just words. Moreover, after the football wide receiver joked about Lyles having to tap into the reserves to beat Speed, Lyles once again laughed back, “I’ll dance across the line on you too.” Even Hollywood stars like Terry Crews have stepped forward to make the race happen, but it so far hasn’t.
On the other hand, Speed recently asserted that he could beat Sha’Carri Richardson in a race, and fans once again jeered at how it looks like he’s finally coming to terms with his true capabilities. Unfazed, IShowSpeed is now looking to find a way to race against the Olympic medalist. But which of these two scintillating races do you think would happen first? Who would win?
