Gabby Thomas is elated and is confident of going below the legal sub-11 limit. The US track and field realm is desperately hoping for some fireworks at the Olympics this year and the 27-year-old can play a pivotal role. Having already established herself in the previous two Olympics, Thomas is now looking to smash records this season.
In the recently concluded Texas Relays, Thomas came out all guns blazing to smash a sprint double. However, even after clinching gold in both the 100m and 200m disciplines, Thomas was found complaining. As well as she has performed, Thomas wanted to take things one step up and go sub 11 legally.

Starting her Olympic preparations in style, Gabby Thomas kickstarted her outdoor season by clocking 22.08 in the 200m invitational. However, while this was an expected result, Thomas stunned the crowd with her timing in the 100m. Getting the better of Celera Barnes, Thomas clocked an incredible 10.88s to clinch the pole position. Soon after her triumph, Citus Mag caught up with the champion where she revealed one of her goals that she could not achieve here.
Speaking about her wish to clock a legal sub 11, Thomas stated, “I mean one of my career long goals is to have a win legal sub 11 so it’s a little over the legal limit so I’m a little annoyed but I’m going to get it it’s just one of my goals.” However, soon after frowning a tad bit, Thomas immediately laughed and pointed out that she was extremely happy with her performance.
Well, she should be. In the 200m, Thomas overcame the likes of Tamara Clark to turn the tides in her favor. However, Thomas was soon asked about why she pushed for the 200m time after going all out in the 100m. The answer she gave pretty much sums up her zeal to better herself this time.
