The phenomenon that is Usain Bolt!

Everyone knows the impact he left on the track. It is safe to say that track and field events have probably lost their charm after Bolt left the center stage. Earlier, Bolt was the sole reason for eyeballs glued onto the TV screens of many homes. Many people have the legendary boxer, Muhammad Ali, at the top of their list. None can replicate the impact Ali had on the masses. Similarly, Carragher explained Bolt’s inclusion into his list of top three athletes.

“I chose people who I’ve watched. People always think of Muhammad Ali but people who have taken my breath away, watching them, and Usain Bolt, just watching him in the 100 metres and the 200 metres, how far ahead he was of everybody at the time,” said Carragher.

He has a point! During those years, nobody came close to taking his crown in the 100 and 200-meters. Apart from the 2011 World Championships, Bolt won gold medals from 2008 to 2016 in both the Olympics and the World Championships. He is the current world record holder of the 100 and 200-meters, a record that may stay intact for years to come. With Bolt on the list, the other two athletes also carry the same persona.

Who are the next two athletes on his list?

The 2005 Champions League winner’s next name on the list is Floyd Mayweather. The defender loved the way he approached his fights and his dominant record. “I know he’s not everyone’s cup of tea, the way he acts outside the ring, but in terms of just never being beaten. Every fight he’s had, he’s beaten everybody,” said Carragher.
