People usually know Alexis Ohanian as the co-founder of Reddit. Some others know him as Serena William’s husband. But recently he has been making waves due to his impact on women’s track and field. This sport, especially for women, hasn’t always received the attention or financial support it deserves. Ohanian noticed this and decided to step in. And one of the athletes in his vision is Twanisha Terry.
Alexis Ohanian launched Athlos in 2024. This event became the first all-women’s track and field meet with a massive prize purse. It is something the sport had never seen before. And his goal was simple. To elevate women’s track and field to the level it deserves. Athlos completely changed the game, offering winners of each event a $60,000 prize. For many athletes, it wasn’t just about the money but about acknowledging their hard work and dedication. And Terry was one of them.
While some athletes already had sponsorships or financial backing, for others, this prize was a huge boost. But it seems Alexis Ohanian’s interest doesn’t stop there. Recently, he’s shown an interest in athletes like Terry. Terry is an accomplished sprinter who has not only clocked a personal best of 10.74 in the 100 meters. But she has also won a gold medal for the relay team.

She wrote, “I have some things in the works to pour back into the community. I can’t wait for everything to come together. The community played a huge role in where I am today, and I feel like that aspect is lacking for today’s youth.”

Seeing all this, Ohanian commented on the post, saying, “Tell me more!”. It seems like Ohanian wants to work alongside her or provide support to make her idea a reality. But at the same time, it is quite difficult to ignore her achievements.
Twanisha Terry’s journey interests Ohanian a lot
Twanisha Terry began to have a passion for the track at the youthful age of 9. She decided to try the sport. Because of her talent, she competed in the Junior Olympics in her first year. She was also a part of the team that set a national record for the 4x100m relay for her age group. From there, it was evident that the girl was going to be a great achievement in her future life.

In high school, she considered that she could get a scholarship through athletics, and with the good grades she had, everything just clicked. She then attended the University of Southern California, where she pursued a communications degree and more dreams in and out of the athletic field. She reached the Olympics by running 10.89 seconds in the USA Olympic Trials in 2024 after overcoming an early injury.
But it is not only about winning and running faster for Twanisha Terry. She also has many grand plans for the future. And it is not limited to just sports. When she is not racing, then she may be crocheting, watching movies, or simply spending time with her French bulldog named Prada. She also wants to be a sports broadcast journalist, most probably in the future. With her talent and aspirations, TeeTee is ready to take on whatever comes next!
