The 2023 track and field season came to a global halt on the tracks of Eugene earlier this week. While every sprinter is currently taking a break and relaxing in the off-season, the grounds of Eugene have tolled their bells again. Although American track stars Noah Lyles and Sha?Carri Richardson faced disappointing finishes to the season, they are not done with Eugene yet. The Olympians will head to the Hayward Field Stadium once again.

The official road to Paris has begun and track and field stars will find themselves back at the tracks of Eugene. Several American athletes would look forward to repeating their successful Diamond run at the tracks. However, Noah Lyles and Richardson will seek to redeem themselves and wash their 2023 exit wounds before the 2024 Olympics.

The Prefontaine Classic 2023 marked the end of the track season and the unrivaled dominance of Lyles and Richardson. The World Champs of 2023 Budapest WAC couldn?t carry their momentum forward despite receiving a home-soil advantage. Despite that, they will be tested by the same unforgiving grounds once again, and get a chance to reclaim glory. The U.S. Olympic trials will be soon approaching, allowing national athletes to battle for their spot in the final Olympic team.

A viral social media post has announced the return of athletes to Eugene owing to their selection for the upcoming trials. The tweet was posted on X by the founder of Citius Mag, Chris Chavez, who broke the important news.?The tweet said,??The 2024 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials will be at Hayward Field from June 21 to 30.??

This marks the fifth consecutive, and eighth overall selection of Eugene as the trial grounds for track stars. The Hayward Field stadium has always functioned as an important site for track and field. Noah Lyles has already claimed a staunch 200m win at the tracks at the 2022 WAC. However, while several fans expected him to repeat his success, the home soil of Eugene favored another American sprinter.?

The Wanda Diamond League arrived at its concluding and final meet at Eugene, where Lyles took an unexpected loss. The Xiamen Diamond League champion Christian Coleman beat the London and Zurich champ Noah Lyles by 0.02 seconds. Moreover, Sha?Carri Richardson wasn?t allowed a single medal at Eugene despite 2023 being the year of her solid comeback. The mighty and honorable venue that revived faith in the world after the pandemic will test them one more time. The CEO of USATF, Max Siegel, reminded everyone about the stadium and its contribution during the pandemic in a public statement.?
