From the Doha Diamond League to the Zurich Diamond League, the American sprinting icon bagged multiple 100m triumphs to her name. However, after a staunch winning spree, the world champion suffered a defeat on the tracks of Hayward Field, Eugene, during the 2023 Diamond League finals.
While Sha?Carri Richardson ran faster than Zurich?s 10.88s victory, it was not enough to bring another gold medal home. Richardson suffered a terrible blow at the hands of Jamaican rivals Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shericka Jackson.

Sha?Carri Richardson faced a major setback after qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after being charged with doping. The 23-year-old rose from adversity and made a grand comeback in 2023. Her golden triumph didn?t cease as she later posted a personal best of 10.65 seconds at Budapest.
This tied her with Jamaican rival and Budapest 100m silver medalist Shericka Jackson as the fifth fastest woman of all time. Richardson was able to power through the competition one more time in Zurich. But, this ended up being her last victory. After sprinting her way towards the finish line, Richardson clocked 10.80 and stood fourth.
However, Jamaican legend, Shericka Jackson, clocked 10.70 and stood first. More so, as Marie-Josee Ta Lou finished second with 10.75, Jamaican icon, Elaine Thompson-Herah stood third with the timeframe of 10.79 seconds.

The unexpected turn of events disappointed Richardson’s American fans, who roared in the sprinter’s support at her home turf. Whereas, Jamaican sprinting powerhouse, Shericka Jackson, who was aiming for a double golden victory, has already completed half her mission now.

Shericka Jackson had suffered a 0.07-second defeat at the hands of Sha?Carri Richardson at the World Athletics Championship, as Richardson clocked 10.65 seconds and Jackson finished in 10.72 seconds in 100m heat.

This was followed by another loss in the 4x100m relay where Richardson bagged another big golden victory. However, Jackson won the gold medal in the 200m category and clocked 21.41s.
Despite this, Jackson was all girded to take home the 100m victory by standing atop the podium in Eugene. Hence, she blazed toward the finish line with absolute finesse and stood victorious on the tracks of Hayward Field.
