The track and field world has produced many tales of resilience for the world. However, this recent harrowing saga told by a refugee track and field athlete crosses the threshold of human strength.

Mohammad Amin Alsalami lost his home in the Syrian war and currently lives in Berlin as a refugee. He fled his home country twelve years ago when the conflict first started. He put a hold on his athletics ambitions, but now he aspires to become a world-class athlete. To fulfill that ambition, he lit the tracks on fire with a remarkable performance at the World Athletics Championships.

Mohammad Amin Alsalami has been training relentlessly for the last eight years in Germany. Finally, he received the IOC scholarship that allowed him to participate in the World Athletics Championships. He took part in the technical event and recorded a 7.46m jump in his debut performance.

Speaking to a correspondent from Olympics.com, he explained his feelings, saying, “To walk into a sold-out stadium was really cool”.?This was the first time that a refugee had been allowed to participate in a technical event at the World Athletics Championships. It was a ?big dream? of his to compete against the world?s best athletes before a huge crowd.

The International Olympic Committee recognized his talent and invited him to compete at the World Championships. Out of all the trained athletes, he was the only one who could not boast of a proper training facility or access to professional coaching. Despite that, he finished 33rd in the overall leaderboard. Now, he has an even bigger goal in mind, which has begun to take shape since his World Athletics Championship debut.

The Olympics allows refugees to compete under the Olympic flag, giving them a chance to showcase their talent on the world stage. This has set Muhammad Amin Alsalami with hopes of debuting in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Further, he explained the reason for his aspiration.

He said, “I want to show that refugees are like normal athletes, that we can also deliver great performances.” Further, he added, “And that motivates me on my road to becoming a world-class athlete.

He has always tried to carry forward the agenda of the refugee athletes. In order to gain traction for his mission, he also started teaching young kids as a sports teacher. However, only a 2024 Paris Olympics debut can help him gather more support for his cause. Therefore, he has dived back into training and will leave no stone unturned until he can successfully appear on the grandest stage in the athletic world.
