Sha?Carri Richardson defied all expectations when she re-emerged as a top gun in America?s track and field scene. While her previous achievements did make her special, she had nothing concrete to show for it. Moreover, she was suspended for doping and she also failed to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. Thus, one of America?s potential best was just reduced to a name among thousands of others. Despite this, her back-to-back victories at the 2023 WAC completely changed everything about her.?

Sha?Carri Richardson went from being just another sprinter, to a sprinter who stands a chance to be the fastest of all time. In fact, she left such a significant mark that she was recently honored for it even in the off-season. A tweet by Track Spice on X broke the news of the indelible honor received by Sha?Carri Richardson. According to the tweet,??To honor Track and Field athlete Sha?Carri Richardson, the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees discussed naming the track at John Kincaide Stadium to the Sha’Carri Richardson Track!??The star sprinter made her grandmother proud once again as her name got immortalized by the Dallas body.?

Sha?Carri Richardson shares a very special and loving bond with her grandmother who raised her along with her aunt. Her grandmother, Betty Harp, is a constant source of strength and inspiration for Richardson. With this honor, she will now chase down the 100m record set by FloJo with a new vigor. In fact, she has already become the fifth fastest woman of all time with her 2023 WAC triumph.

From the fifth fastest to fastest in the world?

Sha?Carri Richardson snatched the 100m gold medal from the clutches of the event?s favorites, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson in Budapest. The US sprinter became the fifth-fastest woman of all time and finished the race in just 10.65 seconds.

The lightning-fast run put her right next to Shericka Jackson, who is the second-fastest woman in the 200m category. Richardson now stands 0.16 seconds away from the 35-year-long record set by America?s Florence Griffith Joyner. While her fans are already rooting for her to break FloJo?s record, the same sentiment is also shared by FloJo?s husband, Al Joyner.

Al Joyner is a former Olympic gold medalist and knows a diamond when he sees one. Speaking in a 2021 interview, FloJo?s husband said that he believes Sha?Carri Richardson reminds him of his late wife. He said that he truly believes that Richardson can break the world record set by her wife.
