Noah Lyles and Sha?Carri Richardson ruled the entire 2023 season and dominated every global sprinter. However, America?s World Champion sprinters couldn?t finish their season with a bang as they lost in the 2023 Eugene Diamond League. This forced them to exit the Prefontaine Classic with their heads hung low despite a stellar season.
Interestingly, the World Champs now stand a chance to redeem themselves. A social media post recently broke the news that the duo have bagged nominations for the most prestigious annual awards. In fact, both Noah Lyles and Sha?Carri Richardson are highly likely to take the win.

According to a tweet by NBC Olympics and Paralympics, Noah Lyles and Sha?Carri Richardson have been chosen for the Athletics Awards. The caption of the tweet said,??Three world champions from the USA are nominated for World #AthleticsAwards.??The list also consisted of America?s two-time Olympic gold medalist in men?s shot put, Ryan Crouser.?
The annual Athletics Award is the most prestigious honor bestowed to athletes every year. Since Noah Lyles and Richardson only lost at Eugene, they stand a strong chance of winning. In fact, 2023 was all gold and one silver for Lyles, which easily makes him a favorite for the win. However, he will face strong competition from Richardson?s favorite person and LSU’s superstar pole vaulter, Armand Mondo Duplantis.

Noah Lyles shattered through almost every barrier before him in 2023, as he won every race he entered. The silver medal he won at Eugene was just 0,02 seconds short of a gold medal as Lyles clocked 9.85 seconds against Christian Coleman?s 9.83 seconds. However, Sweden?s Armand Mondo Duplantis stands in strong competition against Lyles with a massively successful season of his own.
Mondo Duplantis won the gold medal in every event he participated in as well. Moreover, while Lyles had a slip-up at Eugene, Duplantis had his most successful run there. Not only did he win the gold medal at Eugene, but he also set a new world record for performing a 6.23-meter vault.
