The world was laced up to congratulate Noah Lyles for yet another victory. Everyone was ready to see Lyles hoist the American flag with another gold medal to end his season. However, Christian Coleman had other plans.

The Xiamen Diamond League champion sprinted toward the finish line and trounced the Zurich Diamond League champion. Coleman had posted a time of 9.83 seconds at Xiamen, which equals Lyles? personal best as well. But, Coleman was already ahead of Lyles in terms of a personal best time with 9.76 seconds. While Lyles fell just 0.02 seconds short of his personal best, it resulted in a reverse alchemy and cost him his gold.

Coleman repeated a 9.83-second run to win the final leg of the Wanda Diamond League. In fact, his explosive performance also dethroned the greatest sprinter of all time, Usain Bolt. The Jamaican had finished his final Diamond League meet with a golden victory of 9.95 seconds.

Although Bolt?s fastest time still remains untouched, Coleman surpassed Bolt’s Diamond league victory. The competition on home soil was right at the heel of Noah Lyles. While the 6x world champ remained elusive for a long time, the competition finally caught up to him before his victory parade.
