The 2023 World Athletics Championship is booming with the name of Sha?Carri Richardson from every corner of the stands. On 21st August, the American sprinter won the women?s 100m gold by trouncing reigning champ Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, clocking the championship record with 10.65 seconds. In fact, she took 0.02 seconds off the previous best set by her Jamaican rival last year. While Pryce was the favorite of the 100m race, the absence of Elaine Thompson-Herah loomed large in the Hungarian capital city.

The 31-year-old Jamaican sprinter also stands on equal footing as her compatriots, 2022?World Athletics Championships 100m gold and silver medalists, Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson respectively. However, a recent announcement on social media pulled off the curtains from the 4x100m lineup. It asserts that Thompson is all girded up for the 4×100 m relay and is looking forward to bagging victory for Jamaica.
