As the 2022 track and field season proceeds, the most anticipated battle of the season is just a couple of weeks away. In the Kip Keino Classic, all eyes will be upon Jamaican legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and the American sprinting sensation Sha’Carri Richardson. The race is scheduled for May 7, 2022.

In the 2021 Nike Prefontaine Classic 100m, Sha’Carri made a comeback on the track after her doping controversy ban. However, to everyone’s surprise, she finished last, while Elaine Thompson-Herah took the gold and Fraser won the silver medal.

Other athletes at Kip Keino Classic

The event will feature some of the most prominent names in the track and field world. However, the major attention will be on 3000m steeplechase champion Peruth Chemutai from Uganda. Furthermore, the event will also feature World Championship bronze and silver medalists, Abel Kipsang and Margaret Chelimo.

The race director Barnaba Korir said, “We want to have an event bigger than last two years. We will also have spectators and the idea that we are discussing now is to reach out to Kenyans that they can run more short races.”
