After going three races without a first-place finish, he is back to where he belongs. Both of them clocked 49.13 seconds, tieing the race at the top. In addition to Shaine Casas grabbing the headlines, Dressel captured his first victory. Barna clocked 23.37 in his first split followed by Maxime Rooney and Ryan Held. In the meantime, Dressel was in fourth with a split time of 23.56. Soon, Dressel gathered pace. With the majority of the waves hitting out in the first lane, Dressel’s raw power and closing ability helped him secure a first-place finish.
He ended the race with a time of 49.13 as Barna maintained pace and tied the event. Ryan Held settled for the third position. Thus, for Dressel, he clocked a decisive victory.

The 19th Fina World Championships start on June 18th in Hungary. The fastest time that Dressel managed in the 100-meters freestyle competition is 46.96. The 13th Fina World Championships in 2009 saw Cesar Cielo Filho create the world record with a time of 46.91. Just behind by 0.05 seconds, the odds are on his side to make history in Hungary.
