Sports Illustrated revealed his habit in 2016. It was when he showed his fellow American star, Katie Ledecky, how to do justice to all the medals for the photos.

Michael Phelps and his Medal Arrangement

In 2016, Sports Illustrated released a video featuring the Legendary swimmer Michael Phelps along with Katie Ledecky and others. The video focuses on an endearing behind the scene interaction of the two swimmers.

While Katie was having difficulty arranging her medals, Phelps came to her rescue. Michael gave her a helping hand, showing her the trick he uses to arrange the medals. Demonstrating the way he does it, he said, “ Depends on how you put them on. I put them on one by one, then tuck them behind.”

The interaction flustered the young swimmer. Honestly, one can’t blame her. Who wouldn’t get nervous when the person you’ve always looked up to, the legend himself, is right in front of you? Helping you. Later, Phelps lightened the mood in his own funny way. Encouraging the swimmer, he said, “I’ve done it before. You’ll learn. Don’t worry about it.

About the two swimmers

‘The Baltimore Bullet’ needs no introduction. Michael is the most decorated Olympian and has won 28 Olympic medals throughout his career. Additionally, Phelps also holds several Olympic records. He played for the North Baltimore Aquatic Club under the guidance of coach Bob Bowman. Phelps retired from the professional pool in 2016.

Widely appreciated as the greatest female swimmer of all time, Katie Ledecky is an American swimmer. She has won seven Olympic gold medals and 19 world championship golf medals. Ledecky’s medal count is the maximum number of medals won by a female swimmer. Furthermore, in the 2020 Olympics games, Ledecky became the first American female swimmer to have won an individual in three consecutive Olympiads. Lastly, speaking of her educational background, she graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in psychology.
