“Uncle Michael, Look at My Medal”: Michael Phelps Once Shared a Proud Moment With His Young Niece

Michael Phelps is the most decorated Olympian of all time. His success is because of his sheer determination, focus on winning, and rigorous training regimen. The GOAT in swimming is an inspiration for many. Despite his hectic work schedule, the legend never compromises his family time.

Michael Phelps Sister Shares A Hearted Family Moment

Phelps’ sister Hilary shares an old incident. She says how during an Anderson Cooper interview and photoshoot, her little daughter Taylor barged in. Sharing the moment, she said, “and he had all his medals out [around his neck].“

During this time, Taylor came in beaming with joy and said, ‘Uncle Michael, look at my medal.’ Elaborating more on the moment, Hilary says how the proud uncle reciprocated, saying, ‘Hey Taylor, look at mine.’

Phelps Family Worried About His Health

Michael has a height of 6.4 feet and a wingspan of about 6.7 feet. This biological advantage of his did give him an edge over his competitors in the pool. Unfortunately, this benefit might also be a sign of a rare illness, Marfan Syndrome.

Speaking on the same, Michael revealed that it was Bob who advised him to visit a doctor because his heart rate was escalating. He said that he did experience some of the early signs of Marfan Syndrome. (a condition that affects connective tissues and can be fatal if blood leaks into the heart’s blood veins).

He claimed that until they had a firm response, his family wanted to keep him in the dark, only to spare him needless anguish. Thankfully, the results came negative.
