After a successful Tokyo Olympics 2020, Katie Ledecky wants to achieve more. Undoubtedly, she ranks as one of the best swimmers in the world currently. Only a few swimmers can command the pool as well as Ledecky does for the 800 and 1500-meters. However, with that title in her bag, she is now focusing more on her short sprint freestyle events.

Instead of taking part in the 800-meters event at the TYR Pro Series stop in San Antonio, she competed in the 200-meters freestyle and won it emphatically.

Right now, Ledecky is flexing her muscles and competing in different events. Earlier, she opted out of the 200-meters competition at the Westmont Pro Swim and focused on the 400-meter individual medley. Although she finished third in that competition, Ledecky is looking to become a versatile swimmer. Alongside coach Anthony Nesty, she now won the 200-meters freestyle grandly.

Looking to improve versatility?

From coaching under Nesty to opting out of her signature events, Ledecky is swimming in different events now. She suffered a loss against Australia’s Ariarne Titmus in the 200 and 400-meters freestyle. Focusing on these events may help her to become stronger for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

As talented as she is, Ledecky’s inclusion in the medley events will change the whole landscape of women’s swimming. Right now, she has limited experience in the event. However, she looks to expand her swimming capabilities through varied participation.
