All is well that ends well. That ‘well’ ending did not come for the USA swimming team this year. The 2023 swimming season was a mixed bag for the team. While there were some heartbreaks, some staunch swimmers pulled themselves up to the top positions on the podium. However, the story turned out differently as the year closed.

With the 2023 season coming to an end, it is time to analyze the records being made in the concluding season. This has led to a shocking revelation about the US swimmers. A recent social media update showed that even after giving their best and nabbing some terrific wins, they failed miserably in the run for the records.

The Swimmingstats have recently released a list on their Instagram handle. This list inculcates the swimming world records set in 2023 in the long course meters. The post carried the caption, “These are the world records that have been set in 2023 (long course meters). Which one is the most impressive?” Something that instantly caught the attention was the absence of a single American swimmer on the list. To make matters more painful for the US, in the topmost position of the list, Kaylee McKeown of Australia is sitting pretty. She is followed by Summer McIntosh in second and third positions with her two records.

Kaylee McKeown broke through the list with her impressive time of 2.03.14 in the 200m Backstroke at the NSW Championships. Summer McIntosh with her records in 400m Freestyle and 400m IM in the CAN trials. Australian swimmer Ariarne Titmus, Leon Marchand representing France, Qin Haiyang from China, and others made it to this roster with their stupendous records.

American Legends like Katie Ledecky, Caeleb Dressel, Ryan Murphy, Michael Andrew, Bobby Finke, and so many more swimmers delivered some stellar performances throughout the year. However, despite so many veterans on the team, unfortunately, none of them could make a single record in 2023.
