Cody Simpson, the Australian pop star and swimmer, was once among the popular names of Hollywood fames. Moreover, his dating life with Miley Cyrus set the internet ablaze oftentimes. But he had other plans altogether and didn’t let the fame eat him whole.

Simpson’s present girlfriend Emma McKeon had a huge role to play in his life when he mindfully returned to the waters. Previously, he was atop his Hollywood game as a pop star and sported a lavish lifestyle. With four solo studio albums in his purse, the 26-year-old had a chance to make it big. But he’s content with the thought that he didn’t.

Though he was on the verge of losing himself to the fame, he avoided ‘falling in’. And the credits go to swimming and Emma. He said, “I’ve changed 1000 per cent. I’ve changed and grown and evolved in ways I didn’t think possible in the last three years.”

However glamorous the Hollywood lifestyle looks, the artists have to behave in certain ways to please their audience. No matter how much they try to live on their own terms, their career throws everything at them if success comes early. So, the Australian-born chose to keep his sanity in check.

Offering a peek into his love life, Simpson said that his girlfriend was solely responsible for his happiness and stability. “Emma is a huge part of my life, and has been such a positive influence on me in terms of keeping me grounded since we met,” he added.

He also said that her calming presence and unique take on life had been of great help to him. But once upon a time, he was almost facing a mental downfall.

Speaking of the harsh reality of the fame game, Simpson penned, “For a second there, I was on the edge. You know, you’re in your late teens, and you have this level of success, and that means you can have everything you want, and anything you want, and it’s intoxicating. But it’s not healthy, and I’ve seen what can happen. Some people never get away from it.”

Crediting a great deal to his family, he thanked them for not letting him take that path. While talking about fame, he added, “They never get away because you’ve had these crazy rushes of dopamine and success is such a drug it can really warp your perspective of reality if you experience it too young.”
