The Or Foundation and Yvette Tetteh set off on a magnificent adventure along Ghana’s vast Volta River. Beginning their trip in Buipe on March 7th, they overcame the astonishing distance of 450 kilometers via sheer willpower. According to Myjoyonline, Tetteh emphasized the team’s mission, stating, “The Swim Team, as members of the expedition crew have come to call themselves, then ventured down the Black Volta onto the Volta Lake, stopping in towns and villages along the way, many that have been flooded by rising waters and some that don’t appear on common maps at all”.
Yvette successfully completed the historic swim across the Volta River on May 18, 2023. She swam an incredible distance of 10 to 20 km every day throughout the adventure with the help of her dedicated crew. Along with navigating the challenging waterways, they also took on the duty of daily water and air sample following the meticulous protocols established by The Or Foundation team in Accra.
