In a remarkable twist, a young surfer from Florida narrowly escaped a fatal shark attack with the heroic intervention of another surfer.

This recent case is making waves and with the help of social media, the woman was finally able to connect and thank him for his help. She dropped a heartfelt message for the surfing enthusiast who saved her life. 

The surfing messiah to the rescue

According to WSNV-TV, Amari Holcey, aged 18, found herself in a perilous situation while enjoying a swim off Fernandina Beach near Jacksonville. Despite the challenging water conditions, Holcey and her friends decided to venture in. However, their leisurely activity quickly turned into a distressing ordeal when Holcey discovered she was trapped in a powerful rip current, unable to make her way back to safety. “Once I realized I couldn’t touch the ground, and I was not moving back towards the shore, I panicked. I started yelling for help,” said Holcey.

Fortunately, a heroic figure appeared on the horizon, riding a surfboard. Holcey vividly recalls the vivid colors of the surfboard as it approached her. The compassionate stranger assured her that everything would be alright and urged her to climb aboard. Holcey explained, “and when he got to me, he told me everything was going to be OK and to get on his surfboard, and it was a strong fight. He actually saved my life.”

Through his unwavering determination, he successfully rescued Holcey, saving her life from the clutches of danger. Following the harrowing ordeal, first responders swiftly arrived at the scene and transported Holcey to a nearby hospital for immediate tests. 

Her viral heartfelt message on social media

Amidst the chaotic turn of events, Amari Holcey was unable to personally express her gratitude to the man who saved her life. Determined to find her hero, she took to social media, penning a heartfelt Facebook post that quickly gained attention. Countless comments poured in, and fate intervened as she located the man on the yellow surfboard. Through the power of Facebook, she messaged him, expressing her deep appreciation for his bravery and life-saving actions.

Holcey’s loved ones, filled with gratitude, echoed their thanks to Forest and his yellow surfboard. As celebrations approach, Holcey urges everyone to prioritize water safety, staying near lifeguard stations, and heeding advisory flags.
