Arizona State’s Jack Dolan is having a dream run at the Pac-12 Swimming Championships. After a sensational first day where Dolan and his Sun Devils teammates broke the previous NCAA record of the 200m medley, he continued his success story with a victory in the 50m free on Day 2.

This year’s Pac-12 Championships were all the more anticipatory for the Arizona State men’s swimming squad, considering how several of the athletes are eyeing back-to-back titles. While all of his teammates executed their parts in a more-than-enough manner, not many were expecting graduate student Dolan to be the one to bring glory to ASU at the meet.

The latest post by the official Sun Devils Swimming Twitter account emphatically announced Dolan’s second-day feat at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington. “JACK DOLAN REPEATS AS THE CHAMP IN THE 50 FREE“, reads the caption of the post and the flamboyant attitude is well-placed. As their stellar run under the iconic coach Bob Bowman continues, Jack once again highlights exactly why Bowman is such a revered figure in the country’s swimming circuit.

Understandably, expectations were high, but Dolan’s phenomenal run was something that no one was truly prepped for. With a jaw-dropping 18.61 in the 50m free event, Dolan set two new records. Swimming in lane 5, Dolan managed to top the charts while also setting a new program record for the Sun Devils while also making it to the top of the Pac-12 all-time charts. With his latest victory, the Sun Devils’ place as the defending champs looks to be in safe hands. However, Jack wasn’t the only one to woo the audience with his record-shattering display of prowess.

On the same day of Dolan’s feat, Marchand once again shone in style as he broke the NCAA record for the 500m freestyle event with a time of 4:06.18. The Sun Devils team also won the 800m free relay on the first day of the Pac-12 event. With their thrilling all-around performances, ASU once again asserted its dominance and claim to win this year’s Pac-12 Championship.

While the Sun Devils sought to make the tournament their own, No. 2 California, No. 6 Stanford, and No. 23 Arizona all bagged podium finishes at the tournament as well on Day 1. With the NCAA titles on the line, it waits to be seen how the Sun Devils wrap up their stellar run.
