Her dominance in these events is incredible as she has the fastest times in the 1500-meters. She has won five gold medals in all the major competitions while swimming 1500. Let’s look at the world record progression and see Ledecky’s dominance.

Katie Ledecky’s signature event

The timings have come down every time she took part in the competition. Just like Usain Bolt in the track and field events, Ledecky’s incredible swimming technique helps her to dominate these races. As she uses her hands more, she retains the energy needed to thrust forward in the final laps.

Ledecky’s times have been brilliant to date. Back in 2013, she set a time of 15:36.53. Soon those times started reducing, showing her control over the event.

In 2014, she set 15:28.36 at the Pan Pacific Championships. Entering the peak of her powers at the 2015 World Championships, Ledecky won five gold medals in those competitions. She set a time of 15:25.48 in the 1500m event and established her legacy at that event.

During the 2018 Pro Swim Series, she broke her world record and set an incredible time in the event. A time of 15:20.48 saw her winning the event in style and setting a time, five seconds better than the previous record. Second-placed Erica Sullivan finished the race with a time of 16:09.88; almost 50 seconds behind the best.
