“Dragged Under the Water”: Foolish Mistake Leads to Unfortunate Incident as Woman Loses Her Arm to Deadly Shark During Swimming Trip

Shark attacks have always been a dreaded thing, however, they have also become relatively common these days. According to the latest news, a woman enjoying a swimming holiday became a tragic victim of a vicious shark attack. 

A social media post breaking the news about the unfortunate incident is going viral online. The shark vigorously ripped through one of her arms. The alarmed netizens are shocked at the brutal cost the woman had to pay for her innocent, but foolish mistake. 

Shark attack turns swimming holiday into a nightmare

Several activists and experts claim that sharks never attack humans unless they are provoked. While this narrative has prevailed for quite some time, statistics are displaying a completely different picture. According to a news article from the Time Magazine website, shark attacks have dramatically increased in the 21st century. Moreover, these attacks were unprovoked, and the people were engaged in recreational activities like swimming, snorkeling, etc. The year 2015 has proved to be the most gruesome year so far with 111 global deaths. With the numbers increasing, 2023 has already seen more than 37 attacks just in the first half. A fresh shark attack recently resulted in a living nightmare for a young woman in Laguna Beach, Egypt. The official X (formerly Twitter) handle of The Independent shared the tragic and terrifying news online.

Eyewitness accounts say that the woman was enjoying the buoyant waters of the Red Sea with her friend. Soon after, the unsuspecting woman thought a tuna fish was approaching her, and kept swimming indifferently. This soon turned into a horrible mistake as the tuna turned out to be a violent shark. The shark attacked the woman and savagely ripped off her left arm. The woman was rescued from the sea, where she was floating in an unconscious state, and was rushed into an ambulance. Fortunately, the woman is in a stable condition at the moment but has lost her arm. The Ministry of Environment of Egypt called for an immediate closure of the beach in the wake of the relentless attack. Apparently, this was the second shark attack at an Egyptian beach resort in a short span of time.

Shark mauls young foreign tourist to death

The horrible attack at Laguna Beach, Dahab, is the latest in a series of attacks on the Egyptian coasts. Egyptian beach resorts constitute some of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. However, a tiger shark brutally killed a 23-year-old Russian man at a beach resort off the Hurghada coast. Vladimir Popov was viciously pulled underwater by the shark, who yelped “Papa” and called out to his father for help.

Popov’s unfortunate father witnessed the shark take his son away before his eyes, as he stood frozen. Speaking to 112 media, his father said, “What kind of help can you give? This meat grinder happened in 20 seconds, he was just dragged under the water.” The rising trend of shark attacks is now a major concern and people need to be vigilant when venturing out in the sea.
