Ryan Murphy got a text from swimming legend Michael Phelps
Ryan was happy to win his first 200-back Worlds medal. However, when asked about what went wrong in the 100-back, the 27-year-old American swimmer replied, “I think Phelps texted me after the meet which I was pumped about. Phelps doesn’t normally text me but he texted me and I was talking to him about it.”
Though after gushing over Phelps’ text, he elaborated on why he couldn’t win gold at 100-back. He said, “It’s just like the talent and I think it’s kind of due to the guy like Phelps he brought so many into the sport and these guys are huge I mean that huge guys, functional athletes. Like you used to see guys that are 6’7 6’8 6’9 they are pretty dangly and now you are getting guys that are moving like they are 6’2. I mean it’s like really really impressive athletes.”
