The US Open meet is one of the best events ongoing in the swimming realm with mesmerizing performances. Just like day 1 and day 2, day 3 did not fail to charm the spectators as well. One of the events that made the spectators go crazy was the Women’s 100 Back podium. USA’s 21-year-old Regan Smith once again upheld American glory in the event.

Regan Smith has quite a name for backstroke races. She is an Olympic bronze medalist in that discipline. Understandably, expectations were high for her. At the end of the event, she did absolute justice to that as she stood atop the podium with gold.

Regan Smith ruled the 100m backstroke

Day 3 of the US Open meet witnessed another top-notch performance in the Women’s 100 Backstroke. From skills to style, Regan Smith was the perfect example of it in this event. Leaving behind some of the best swimmers, she grabbed the win gracefully. SwimSwam took to their X account and posted the scores of the event.

Regan Smith clinched gold in a timeframe of 58.16 and following her in the second position was Claire Curzan, with 58.35. Standing in third place was Katharine Berkoff with a time of 58.61. She participated in multiple other events in the US Open meet and tried her best to attain the first position, but ended up being fifth in the 200 IM. However, this time she lived up to her name, which she has made with her line up of accolades.

Regan Smith is a name to reckon with

Regan Smith is a commendable American competitive swimmer, and her accolades speak for itself. She is the world junior record in the women’s long course 100-meter backstroke and a former world record holder in the long course 100-meter backstroke and the 200-meter backstroke. She also competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in three events for the US.

Here she nabbed a bronze medal in the 100-meter backstroke, a silver medal in the 200-meter Butterfly, and a silver medal in the 4×100-meter medley relay. Not just this, she also showcased her talent at the World Aquatic Championships. Smith clinched individual gold medals in the 200-meter backstroke in 2019 and gold in the 100-meter backstroke in the 2022 championship.

In the 2023 World Aquatic Championships, the American swimmer stood atop the podium and clinched gold for swimming the backstroke leg of the 4×100 medley relay in 2023. She with her exceptional talent and dedication to growth is taking steps every day toward success.
