A frightening series of events are occurring in the water in New York. Despite the risks associated with swimming on the beach, a heat wave in the northeast is making it more tempting for people to do so. While they are at it what moves them away from the shore are the deadly powerful rip currents. It may be difficult for swimmers to swim back since they quickly tug them away from the coast and are difficult to spot. A saddened fate could also mean a lack of lifeguards nearby resulting in delayed or no help if someone gets into danger in the water.

Not even a few days have passed since the deadly shark attacks in the region were reported. Authorities warned that a school of sharks had occupied the area, making it dangerous for surfing and other water activities. A recent awful incident shook everyone when two teenagers fell victim to swimming on the deadly beach.

Swimming adventure leads to a tragic fate

On Thursday, police reported that one teen swimmer was missing while another had been pulled from the ocean near Coney Island Beach. According to police and the NY Post, the kids were reported drowning at the beach close to West 22nd Street and Surf Avenue at roughly 12:45 p.m. The dive team from the NYPD and FDNY showed up immediately to save the second teen while the first was already rescued. According to the authorities, the 15-year-old boy?is still missing, and rescue teams?have been actively scouring the area.

A strong current beneath the water’s surface caught the attention of experienced swimmers when the lads were allegedly spotted at the beach during lunchtime. The teens were even issued an explicit warning by the people present. An elder swimmer reinstated his warning and said, “Don?t play with the water please. They didn?t say anything to me they continued jumping and playing,”? moments later an on-duty?lifeguard noticed them?floundering in the water.

As of Thursday night, the rescue crew spent hours looking for the missing boy, but could not locate him. Locals’ valid warnings continue to go unheeded, which results in further accidents while the hunt may go on today. Surfing off-limits in New York

Two swimmers were reportedly attacked by sharks off the coast of Long Island on July 4. Officials reported that over 50 sand sharks were sighted in the morning close to the popular shores of Long Island. There were two incidents reported just days apart, one reported a teen boy being attacked by a shark that bit one of his feet while surfing. A girl aged 15 received treatment for what seemed to be a shark bite on a leg. The following day swimmers were warned to stay close to the shore even after the beach reopened.

When speaking about the incident the officials even recalled last year’s spate of shark attacks pointing to the dangerous nature of the mishap. Even though there haven’t been as many shark attacks this year, one should still look out for the sharks before going swimming. While visitors continued to hang out on the beach despite the attacks.
