The first leg of the 2023 Swimming World Cup has come to an end. In this event that ran from October 6 to October 8, many U.S. athletes faced disappointments in the Berlin waters. Five-time world champion Nic Fink lost against Chinese swimming prodigy Qin Haiyang, while Kieran Smith had to settle for bronze in a 400-meter freestyle event. Many athletes, including Charlie Clark and Sianna Savarda, could also not secure their spot in the finals.
Following this dismay, the U.S. team has again geared up their goggles to face their competitors in Greece. However, amid the heated battle, a 25-year-old U.S. athlete has managed to leave the fans in awe. Before the 400-meter freestyle event, Beata Nelson saved Australian rival Lani Pallister from last-minute failure.
