The 2023 Swimming World Cup was successfully completed this year. Now, the community is taking a turn towards the next exciting event which is going to be hosted by Los Angeles. This swimming meet called the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships is decided to take place in 2026. This is a long-course event which was initiated in 1985. This was started as a substitute to the European Championships, for those countries that could not swim in those championships.

This competition comes under some of the most difficult global swimming competitions. It comes after the Olympic Games, World Championships, and European Championships. After 2018, this meet is again all set to be held in 2026 with the best participants and to be hosted beautifully by the US after almost 16 years. The swimming community is on its toes to witness this major meet.

Swimming world to witness the next Pan Pacific Championships in 2026

The Pan Pacific Championships has been going on since 1985 and it has been a huge part of the swimming community since then. The four major authoritative bodies which are Swimming Australia, USA Swimming, Swimming Canada, and Japan Swimming Federation gave the biggest initiative in establishing this event. The next championship in 2026 will be hosted by Los Angeles, just two years before it hosts the Olympics.

The upcoming meet, a quadrennial meet for the countries outside Europe, has been shifted from Canada to the US. The exact location in Los Angeles is yet to be announced by the authorities. This was last held in Tokyo in 2018 and then was again supposed to take place in 2022 in Canada. However, this was canceled as the COVID-19 pandemic created a horrific situation all over the world. This 2022 edition was agreed to be held by Canada in 2026.

But recently, the US and Canada swim federations announced that the location is being shifted from Canada to the US and the decision is taken by all the four federations together. The US authorities are more than happy to host this meet and are looking forward to it as they hosted it last in 2010.

The US authorities express gratitude about hosting the championship

The USA swimming authorities are extremely elated to be hosting this important meet, it is the third-biggest crucial international meet for the U.S. Swimmers. The best part is that since the very beginning of this championship in 1985, the US has been winning the title till the last one in 2018.

The CEO of USA and President Tim Hinchey expressed how thankful the association is to the Federation of Canada for giving them the opportunity to host the 2026 Pan Pacific event.

The acting CEO of Canada Suzanne Paulins expressed, “Swimming Canada is pleased to support the move of the 2026 Pan Pacs from Canada to USA Swimming and Los Angeles”. She also stated that the value of shifting the location to LA is quite succinct and they are looking forward to making this championship a memorable step in the way of getting to the LA 2028. The US hosted this championship in Irvine, California in 2010 and is now looking forward to making it a big one again.
